We’ve all been there. You get on a plane, sit down, look up and realize that there is no in-flight entertainment. No TV, no inseat USB systems and unfortunately, no inseat ac power. At this point you know, this is going to be a long flight.
What most people don’t stop to realize is that aircraft interior products are a business in of itself. On average, over 8 million people fly every day, of those 8 million, 41% watch movies on their flights. When you look at that from a numbers perspective, over 3 million flyers watch people every day. That makes in flight video a very lucrative business. Having a state of the art system inside of a plane makes that plane all that much more desirable. In a fast-moving world, airlines are always looking for an edge over the competition and in flight entertainment technology is the next big thing.
When talking about entertainment in the air, you can skip over wifi. Having access to your smart device while in the sky has become crucial to a pleasant airline experience. According to TripAdvisor’s 2013 Air Travel Survey, 25% of participants would choose one airline over another if it offered wifi. With that number being five years old, that number has only skyrocketed. Frequent flyers are a massive market and doing the little things correctly quickly put one airline over another.
Speaking of the little things, they’re some things that airlines could improve to help in flight experiences. That’s where aircraft interior products come in. Outside of providing wifi and a TV monitor, having access to USB is very helpful. Most phone chargers today use USB systems and having that available would go a long way. Another would be personal ac access, rather than a plane-wide set temperature. Some flyers would rather have it cold, while others prefer it warmer. It’s important to give flyers the option to personalize their flying experience.
Just as in any business, flying isn’t just surface value. They’re a plethora of details that could be looked over by airlines that in actuality, flyers seem them as crucial. So when looking into ways to increase business, look at those small details.
